What is the difference between the 400/4000 series and the 500/5000 series of products?

We frequently receive questions about the difference in the four series of products offered. First the series number is somewhat descriptive. The 400 series and 500 series designates that the design is for new construction where the 4000 series and 5000 series designates products for replacement window applications. The 400 and 500 new construction series include an integrated nailing fin for ease of installation.

The series that start with a (4) designates a specific window design - the 400 series new construction window and 4000 series replacement window designates. This product has a 2.875 inch deep main frame, with an expanded stepped brick mold exterior frame, sloped frame sill, and tilt-in sash. Available models are Single Hung, Horizontal Slider, Picture Window and a wide range of Architectural Custom Shapes. 

The series that start with a (5) designates the 500 series new construction window and 5000 series replacement window design. This product series has a 3.250 inch deep main frame, a narrow, more decorative scalloped brick mold exterior frame, sloped frame sill, and tilt-in sash. Available models are Double Hung, Single Hung, Horizontal Slider, with full or half screen frame option, Picture Window and a wide range of Architectural Custom Shapes.
